These services are great, though you need to play with them a bit sometimes to get something snappy and affordable. And bear in mind that some domains you can’t have unless you are resident in the country that owns them.
That said, I used domainr to get Brushstrok.es and Inpictur.es for my art business – I was thrilled.
You are right, when I was searching for domain name for my name simr.an using these tools, I was not able to get this domain name as it belongs to country level domain of Netherlands.
