Just like any website promotion, your blogs needs promotion too to attract visitors to increase traffic of your blog. The blog industry is a big and busy industry with a vast ocean of blogs which seems ever-growing.

You set up a blog and start posting useful information that can benefit you and others as well. But no one comment and your traffic statistics are barely registering. All your exercise seems like a waste to you. But you can increase traffic to your blog by using few very simple steps.

Below are 10 simple tips that can help you increase traffic to your blog:

1. Post Frequency

Update your blog frequently and post useful content on it to keep traffic moving on your blog. This is the most important step in building up permanent visitors on your blog. The content you write should have something meaningful to offer and write often to maintain their interest and keep them loyal. Also, frequent posts will make you noticed by search engines like Google, Yahoo etc.

2. Submit to Search Engines

Submit your blog to Search Engines. Get yourself on the radar screen of the popular search engines such as Yahoo, Google etc. This can be done simply by submitting to them your blog’s URL. Many search engines provide a ‘Submit’ link to notify the search engine of your new blog so that your blog can be included with them. It’s not necessary that your blog pages will appear at the top of the search results screen after your submission of blogs, but at least your blog will be included and will have the chance of being picked up by a search engine.

3. Adding other blogs in your blogroll

Adding links to websites you like in your blogroll will benefit you in many ways. The owners of those blogs will find your blog and will be likely to reciprocate by adding your link in their blog rolls. This is an easy way to get the link to your blog in front of many readers on other blogs. The hope is that some of those readers will click on the link to your blog on the other blogs’ blog rolls and find your content interesting and enjoyable turning them into loyal readers.

4. Blog commenting

Commenting is a very powerful and essential way to increase your blog’s traffic. Value your reader’s comments by responding to their comments. This will build up readers loyalty. Another way is to leave comments on the blogs of other people to get new traffic moving to your blog. Make sure you leave your blog’s URL in your comment, so you create a link back to your own blog. They are likely to click on the link to visit the commenter’s website.

5. RSS Feed option

Associate your Blog’s content with an RSS feed. This not only makes your loyal readers read your posts but also allows them to know when you publish your fresh content on your blog via RSS Readers or Email notification.

6. Guest Blogging

Find a list of blogs that accept guest post and submit your best content there. Contributing quality content on top blogs in your niche will help you gets lots of quality links, traffic and branding for your blog.

7. Use Tagging

Tagging your posts also helps generating traffic to your blog as these get you noticed by search engines and help your readers find your blog when they search on popular search engines.

8. Use Social Bookmarking websites

Submit your posts to social Bookmarking sites such as Reddit, Digg, StumbleUpon and more. But make sure you submit only quality posts on these networks.

9. Optimize your blog posts

Make sure that you remember to optimize your pages for search engines to find them. Include relevant keywords and links in your posts but don’t make them messy by adding irrelevant items. Doing so can be considered spamming and could have negative results such as your blog being removed from Google’s search entirely.

10. Use images

Add pictures or images in your blogs as they will help readers locate you in search engines. Ina addition they make your blog more interesting and appealing. Many People use the image search option offered by search engines to perform their search. Thus, images can boost traffic to your blog.

What methods you use to drive traffic to your blog, share in the comments section below.

Some of these are good, but I really don’t think you should submit anything to the search engines. It’s a waste of time – they will find you on their own.

Post quality is the most important thing but we should also consider post frequency to gain traffic. Your blog readers will surely visit again if you are posting at regular intervals.

Anil Gupta April 10, 2010 at 8:37 pm

Surely post quality maters a lot, but we have to keep on adding new posts on our blogs on regular intervals. So I would suggest going for quality posts and on regular intervals

“Use Tagging” – will not increase traffic to your blog.
“Use images” – will, but you need to use “alt” and “title” attributes. Also, it is good to use images with keywords in their names (…keyword_image.jpg or keyword_keyword.jpg)

little tip: wright timeless content

I’ve really enjoyed guest posting and leaving great comments on other blogs, it’s really helped with the beginning of my recent blog.

Optimizing your blog posts is one element that goes widely unused. Whenever you get the chance, look through your analytics log and see which posts are doing well vs. others that aren’t. If you notice a theme in which do well, continue to explore deeper into that subject and drive more traffic to your blog.

I’ve followed all the above tricks on my websitehttp://www.techlikes.com” rel=”nofollow”>Technology Blog, but still my traffic is very low. I have only 80+ unique visitors daily, although i’m blogging for an year and have 130+ posts.. Do you think I still need time? Or am I missing something here?

Reply

Simrandeep May 18, 2010 at 10:30 pm

You don’t need any time. You are missing something. I visited your blog and I noticed that your blog theme is cluttered with things here and there. First of all you need to work on your blog theme as it is the first thing that the visitors notice before reading your posts. Rest you need to work on improving your blog’s SEO for better search engine rankings.

These are really very helpful tips to increase traffic to blogs. I especially love adding pictures and images. Appealing pictures are always inviting. When you post pictures that have extraordinary appeal, readers will mostly likely be curious to read the story behind the picture and would want to keep reading more and if they like the content, would keep coming back to your site. They would look forward to more blog posts from you. Thanks for these helpful tips!

How To Attract New Customers September 27, 2010 at 1:00 am

Using images on your blog post or pages, is an excellent way to increase fondness for what you offer your readers.

Nature, insures that the human eye will always gravitate towards familiar faces or images. So, using pictures will more than likely boot readership, and make for a more enjoyable time for your readers.

Want some free images to use? Go to google + images, use advance settings, scroll down to the tab :use for commercial use w/modification”
