Hackers always try their best to hack into other’s email accounts to steal their personal information. I have seen many of my friend’s email accounts have been hacked by hackers in the past. Looking at this security concern, Google has announced advanced 2 step verification system for your Google account.
What is 2 step verification?
Google has announced 2 step verification process today to secure your Google account. Until now you are used to sign in to your Google account using your password but once you enable the 2 step verification you will also be asked to enter the code sent through a SMSÂ on your mobile phone. This promises enhanced security system for your Google accounts.
How to enable 2 step verification?
To enable the 2 step verification move over to your account settings page. There will be a new link to enable 2 step verification. A user-friendly set-up wizard will guide you through the process, including setting up a backup phone and creating backup codes in case you lose access to your primary phone.
Once you enable 2-step verification, you’ll see an extra page that prompts you for a code when you sign in to your account. Once you enter both password and the code correctly you will gain access to your Google account. It means it will amost be impossible for a hacker to hack into your account.
It is great move by Google as our email accounts may contain important information. The instructions to change the password for various accounts over internet are also sent to email inbox. So the chances to be hacked will be avoided to the most using 2 step verification.
