Most of the users are using pirated version of Windows. You can not update your Windows XP if you are using pirated version. However if you want to get automatic updates you must make your Windows XP genuine. If you try to install automatic updates on pirated version, windows will show an error that you are using a pirated version of Windows.
First of all check whether your Windows XP is genuine or pirated. Visit Windows Validation Page using your Internet Explorer to check this. It will then ask you to install ActiveX component. Click the yellow bar on the top and accept it to install.
If your Windows XP is not genuine, you can download the registry hack file to make it genuine. After downloading, click yes when a confirmation windows pops-up.
Now your Windows XP is genuine. You can check it by visiting on Windows Validation Page again.

Now I would like to share something with you.
I used your method to tweek the registry & everything turned out as you said. The O/S did pass the genuine test!
I also upgraded sp3 & kept the auto updates on ON.
After exactly 9 days, I got WGA notification stating that I have been a victim of counterfiet .
I came back to your site & tried the same method again.
IT DOES NOT WORK ANYMORE.
Any ideas please?
