Apple has just released the iOS 10.3.2 download, a minor update with the usual bug fixes and performance enhancements but don’t get too excited at the thought of a jailbreak just yet. It has been obvious, since iOS 10 was released in September 2016, that jailbreaking is getting somewhat harder to do. Although we have seen some jailbreaks in the last few months, they have all been semi-untethered and all are limited to those who use 64-bit devices. The jailbreaks that have been released for iOS 10 have come from Luca Todesco, the last person we expected to get involved in public jailbreaking.
Will Yalu be updated to Support iOS 10.3.2 ?
Todesco released Yalu Jailbreak for iOS 10.1 and subsequently updated it to support iOS 10.3 but, in a surprising move, Todesco has announced that he will not be updating it for iOS 10.3.2 and is no longer going to be working on public jailbreaks. This is due, in part, to Apple making it even harder to provide a public utility by introducing their new file system, AFS, and partly because he prefers to concentrate his efforts on his career as a security researcher.
Where will The iOS 10.3.2 Jailbreak Come From ?
If there is going to be an iOS 10.3.2 Jailbreak, it could come from anywhere. We still have Taig, PP and Pangu teams to consider and, although they have maintained silence since iOS 10 was released, there is nothing, at this stage, to suggest that they are not working on a jailbreak. They will need some time to look through iOS 10.3.2 to see if there is anything to work with and there is also the consideration that they may want to see what the next major update brings before going to work.
And, of course, there is also the chance that a jailbreak could come from a complete newcomer to the scene although, if that is the case, any utility would need to be tested thoroughly before the jailbreak community could use it. We also need to bear in mind that WWDC is just around the corner and, at the moment, it is unclear how much further Apple will take iOS 10 before calling it a day to work on iOS 11.
Things To Do Now :
Until we have any further news, all we can suggest is :
- Preserve any jailbreak you may have now , download Cydia Eraser in case of problems
- Download TinyUmbrella to save your SHSH blobs for future use
- Don’t update unless you absolutely must
