A new scam is spreading like wild-fire on the walls of Facebook users with a false picture of YouTube video and which claim that they appear in the video. The scam uses multiple messages like omg [user’s name] you should untag yourself in this vid, YO! [user’s name] you look so stupid in this vid, hey [user’s name] i cant believe youre tagged in this vid, OMG!! [user’s name] why are you in this video.
Today when I was checking my email inbox I was shocked to see it cluttered with all these scam messages and it’s not the first time when we are seeing such type of scam messages on Facebook.
The video uses victim user’s first name and then the message in the title. It also shows a false thumbnail of YouTube video with a random number of views and like and length 2:34. The scam message claims that the video is from YouTube but when innocent Facebook users click on the link they are redirected to a page where they are asked a paste a malicious code in the browser address bar. Doing so spreads spam messages on wall of all the friends of that user.
What if I clicked on the link?
Now if you have clicked on the link means you have become a victim of the scam. You should remove these spam messages from your friends’ wall immediately so that others do not fall prey to it. To do so click on the ‘X’ button which appears at the upper right corner of the message and it will prevent other to become a victim of this scam like you.
Ok this time you clicked on the link unknowingly but next time I strongly recommend you to be careful in clicking such links that appear on your wall.
I too have seen this message 2 or 3 days ago but I didn’t do anything with it. I just left it and now I think I was right at that time.
